Our Story

Established in 2005, The Gurkha is a small family-run hotel, restaurant and pub in Blackpool owned by an ex-Gurkha soldier, Dilip Gurung MBE, and his wife, Hema Gurung.


Upon retirement from the Gurkha regiment where he served in the 2nd Battalion, Royal Gurkha Rifles for 20 years, Mr. and Mrs. Gurung established The Gurkha Restaurant to introduce Nepalese cuisine (and culture) to Blackpool along with other oriental dishes, whilst also representing the Gurkhas. The Gurkha Hotel and Pub also opened simultaneously and quickly became a favourite amongst the locals and regular guests from all over the country.


Today, The Gurkha continues to be one of the top choices in Blackpool for freshly prepared Asian cuisine providing exceptional taste and quality, as well as a hospitable establishment that truly cares about its customers.
